How we care for our elderly says a lot about our society. Social Care for the elderly - especially in rural areas like ours - is one of the key public policy challenges of our time. We know it will need extra funding - which the Government is committed to - but it also needs a fairer and better way of linking it to NHS care so patients leaving hospital continue to have care.
We hear a lot from the NHS which gets nearly all the budgets but less from Care providers so every Friday I'm taking time to go and visit Care Homes across Mid Norfolk to talk to patients and carers myself and hear from the front line.
This week I visited family owned Fairlands Care Home in Attleborough where over 30 residents are housed in a homely environment. With continued Government support and the dedicated work of all of those at places like Fairlands, I know our area can meet the challenges ahead and give the elderly in our area the dignity and comfort they deserve."
