Care Homes play a key role in our society – a fact highlighted even more over the past two years of the pandemic.
That’s why I am delighted to be drawing attention to Care Home Open Week – which starts today.
Care Home Open Week is a programme delivered by the cross-sector Championing Social Care charitable initiative (more details of which can be found here) and shines a light on the incredible value of our social care sector, and the thousands of staff that work within it, supporting residents each and every day.
Hundreds of care homes across the UK are taking part, opening their doors to local communities to give a glimpse of the wonderful work they do.
Care Home Open Week aims to:
- show what care homes and other care settings can offer, including promoting their facilities, activities, and services;
- showcase the career opportunities available in social care; and,
- encourage greater community engagement and volunteering
Having recently visited Ailwyn Hall Care Home in Honingham (see more here), and with further care home visits already scheduled for the coming months, I am determined to do all I can to promote and support our local care sector, representing their views in Parliament and better understanding the challenges they face.
