George was at Wymondham College on Saturday to see the sixth form Enid Ralphs Building officially opened by Baroness Shephard.

Wymondham College is a state boarding school and is built on the site of the World War II USAAF 231st Station Hospital. Lady Ralphs, whose husband was instrumental in the setting up of the school, spoke of his difficulties in trying to provide a good school for the many parentless service children in the area.

Speaking afterwards, George said “This is a state boarding school that provides excellence. The history behind it and how far it has come is very inspiring, and I’m grateful to Melvyn [the Headteacher] for inviting me along.

“It is obviously a fantastic new building and I was amazed how many people mentioned the hustings [between the Mid Norfolk candidates during the election]. I’m glad so many people enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to my next trip there.”
