How we take care of, educate and support some of our most vulnerable people is a measure of us as a society.
That’s why I jumped at the chance to visit the Independence Matters social enterprise headquartered at Dereham Community Hub this past Friday – to meet the team and find out more about the inspiring work they do across the county.
Independence Matters provide support opportunities in the home and in the community for adults with learning disabilities, young people in transition and those living with dementia. With over 25 sites across Norfolk including community hubs, supporting living schemes, respite care and even a factory, IM’s incredible work help these key groups lead valued and fulfilling lives, socialising, learning new skills and accessing many of the parts of life we take for granted – such as teamwork and friendship.
It was a true pleasure to learn more and I look forward to supporting their work in future.
